Good Morning,
We are a non-profit and use Roberts Rules / Parliamentarian Procedure for slating our Board of Directors. My question is that we have a person slated for President Elect that needs to be removed from the slate. I understand that the Nominating Committee must remove that person, but must we have someone to replace them?
We currently have someone (Let say Jane) that does want to President next year, and has served on the Board, but again is not in the President Elect position. We would like her to just step into the President role. Is that possible, or does (Jane) have to serve as President Elect? Thank you for all your help!
Dear Jackie,
You currently must have a President-elect that was elected the prior year to be President this upcoming year. The purpose of having a president elect is so that you don't elect the president. That person automatically becomes the president when the president's term is expired. So I am scratching my head. Do you have a vacancy in the president's position because the current president-elect does not want to serve or has resigned?
If you are having elections now, the president-elect would not serve as president until 2017. So I am a little confused on this one. If you would like me to help you further please e-mail me at "littlebenone@gmail.com. "
Cheerio,
Little Ben
