Within a community organization, and with all the new technology, are email votes (within a board of directors)valid?
Dear Mark,
Not unless your bylaws permit it. If all the members live in the same community and it is possible to make it to the meeting, the best thing is to meet in person, discuss the question and vote there. There are some programs that have been designed to this. But the most important part of the democratic process is that the group meets and then discusses and votes on an issue. If an email vote has been taken, it must be ratified at the next meeting and recorded in the minutes.
Cheerio,
Little Ben
