Hi there,
Can a president open a special meeting and then immediately adjourn it without allowing any board members a chance to speak or put forth a motion to vote? A special meeting was called by the VP to address issues of the president. All was done according to our bylaws. It was a special meeting and an agenda did not have to be put forth before the meeting. The president knew that the majority of the board was about to act so the president opened the meeting and then immediately adjourned it. HELP, BEN!!!!
Thanks!

Dear Jade,
What a clever man! He knew how to stop any addressing of issues. First, when these types of meetings are called, the president never presides. The VP should have called the meeting to order and presided. It sounds to me that this was a disciplinary action that was to take place. Robert's Rules of Order has a procedure to handle these types of issues. If this comes up again please contact us at HOA@parli.com or give us a call 800-532-4017. Our parliamentarian can help.
Cheerio,
Little Ben
